Condensing Tube

These excellent quality, Borosilicate Glass Condensing Tubes, are popular with those who wish to condense Methanol Vapor created during Biodiesel Production. Condensing Methanol Vapor results in a safer working environment and, if the purity is high enough then the Condensed Methanol can be reused in future processes. The tubes are also useful for any other application where a vapor needs to be condensed, such as the distilling of Alcohol or Oil in a laboratory

There are various types of condenser available, and this model is the most efficient, with a glass spiral condensation tube which folds the vapor over and over, resulting in more of the vapor coming into contact with the cold glass wall, and subsequently turning into liquid. The liquid is then collected in a bowl or bottle beneath the Condenser outlet

The coolant tube (that shrouds the spiral) is cooled by passing cold water or antifreeze through it, and features hose barb connections at the top and bottom to accept the supply & return hoses, water or antifreeze is supplied into the tube via the top connection, and exits via the bottom connection. The efficiency of the Condenser is entirely dependent upon the coolant being COLD, so if you a re-circulating coolant in a loop using a pump, then you may need to install a heat sink device, such as car radiator & fan, to cool the coolant that is returning from the Condenser

The inlet and outlet connections for vapour are ground-glass cones, the top is female, the bottom is male, you will need to make appropriate rubber sleeves to connect hose to these, or use tape, or shrink sleeving, no pressure will be experienced over these connections so as long as they are vapor tight this is all that matters
