Mazzei Venturi Injectors

Venturi Injectors are an excellent means by which to safely "suck" an additive into liquid flowing through a pipe, mainly used for irrigation purposes to inject liquid fertilisers into irrigation water, or in treatment plants where liquid or air needs to be injected into the flowing media. They are also popular for injecting flammable liqids into a media, where the use of an electric pump would provide a potential explosion risk

Injectors are 'sized' based not upon pipe size, but upon your pump performance, therefore please consult the charts below to determine which injector will best suit your needs, you should consider the following;

  • What do you want to inject (liquid or gas)?
  • How much do you want to inject?
  • Motive Flow Rate (how much water needs to run through the injector)?
  • Inlet Pressure (what is the pressure upstream from the injector)?
  • Outlet Pressure (what pressure will the injector see downstream after installation)?

The total flow of the system must be greater than the injector's motive flow capacity (water through the injector)

Steps to finding the correct model Mazzei Injector for your system

  • Locate the injector inlet pressure on the performance table which most closely corresponds to your maximum available pressure (see your pump performance chart)
  • Review the performance table to locate an injector model which has a suction capacity that is greater than your desired suction capacity. Use a metering valve or orifice assembly to adjust the injector's suction rate to obtain the precise suction required

Remember, for the injector to operate properly, it must experience a higher inlet pressure than outlet pressure (called the differential pressure). Mazzei injectors are very efficient and begin to operate with as little as 20% differential pressure!
