Atkinson Equipment, Over-Fill & Bund Alarms
Battery or Mains operated alarms for use on diesel or heating oil tanks
During normal operation, the alarms rotary switch is set to "Bund". If liquid enters the bund area and reaches the level at which the included float-switch is suspended, this triggers a reed-switch causing the alarm to sound, the rotary switch is then set to "Over Fill" to silence the alarm.
During filling, the alarms rotary switch is set to "Fill", this monitors both Over Fill and Bund circuits. When the level in the tank reaches the level at which the included float-switch is suspended inside the tank, this triggers a reed-switch causing the alarm to sound, the rotary switch is then set to "Bund" to silence the alarm, if the alarm continues to sound then the bund float switch may also have been triggered, in this scenario, the power supply should be isolated to silence the alarm, and an engineer called to investigate the problem
The bund alarm may be triggered by oil from either a broken inner tank or faulty fill connection, or by rain water should the outer bund be compromised, in either case the problem should be rectified immediately and the bund emptied of its contents at the earliest convenience
