Robinson Manufacturing Fuel Sampler/Thief, Slide Valve Closure
Robinson Oil Thieves are the ideal instrument used to collect crude oil samples from on-site storage tanks. Oil Thieves allow for quick extraction of samples to manually assess the initial quality of raw oil including, color, texture, and viscosity. Barrels are constructed from clear plastic, brass, or aluminum, and are available in 12-inch, 16-inch, and 18-inch lengths. Butterfly-valve and slide-valve closure models are available. Each thief has four legs in the bottom casting which make the thief a stable hydrometer cylinder. The top casting includes a hanger for hanging the thief on a tank hatch or equipment case. Thieves offer a single trip action, simple closure tension adjustment, and adjustable trip rod graduated at standard extension intervals. Drain valves are sold separately and can be installed at most heights on the barrel.
ROBINSON OIL THIEF SLIDE VALVE CLOSURE
The Robinson Slide Valve Oil Thief features a horizontally sliding closure assembly equipped with a Delrin valve disc to ensures proper sealing and prevention of leaks. The Thief allows for a quick release of samples through the bottom end of the barrel.

Samplers can either be lowered with a specialised hand-winch, for smooth and clean operation, or, more crudely, with a length of cotton rope, cotton is used because it is chemically resistant to all fuels, any also fibre that enters the fuel will not harm it, what with fuel filters being made from cotton fibre also.
